This summer I practice my French

https://comquat.ca/formulaire-mon-francais-je-le-pratique/

On April 12, the official launch of the project Cet été mon français je le pratique took place, in the presence of Mrs. Valérie Schmaltz, Member of Parliament for Vimont and Government Assistant to the Minister of Immigration, Francisation and Integration. – Francisation section.

It is as the main financial partner that the official announcement of the amount allocated to Comquat (154,000 over 3 years) for the realization of this project was made by the Deputy of Vimont during this event.

Mr. Guy Pilon, Mayor of the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Mrs. Denise Bergeron, representative of Mayor Claude Comeau of the city of Pincourt and Mrs. Nancy Pelletier, representative of Mayor Pierre Séguin for the city of Île-Perrot were also present as financial partners of the project. We also received a donation from the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Vaudreuil in support of the program during this event.

Highlights

Cet été mon français je le pratique was the subject of a pilot project during the summer of 2022 financially supported by the Regional Instance for Consultation in Academic Perseverance and Educational Success of Montérégie (IRCM), the city of Vaudreuil -Dorion and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society of Vaudreuil. The community of Vaudreuil-Dorion rewarded this Comquat initiative by awarding it the People’s Choice award at the 2022 Community Forum of the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion.

This great success prompted Comquat to renew the experience in 2023, 2024 and 2025 by seeking, among other things, financial support from the Government of Quebec.

Offered to young people aged 16 to 24, of immigrant origin, allophones and anglophones from the Vaudreuil-Dorion and Île-Perrot regions, this project offers activities taking place from July 4 to August 10 and aims to :

Offer participants fun activities to practice oral expression in different contexts

Continue to practice language skills in French

Improving fluency in French both orally and in writing

Introduce young immigrants to regional attractions

Create an intercultural network facilitating the integration of participants into their community

This summer, we are rolling out the program at two points of service in order to reach more young people in our region; at 25 boul. Don Quichotte in Île-Perrot and at 1255, rue Émile-Bouchard in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Register quickly, as our places are limited:

For more information, contact Sylvie Pelletier 514 453-3632, dg@comquat.ca

This program is possible thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI), as well as the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, City of Pincourt, City of L’Île-Perrot and a gift of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society of Vaudreuil-Dorion.

It is with regret that we acknowledge the departure of three (3) of our members from the Board of Directors in recent months. Indeed, Michel Normand, treasurer, Camille Bricault, director and Isabelle Leduc, president, have chosen to explore new horizons.

An organization like Comquat cannot exist without the involvement and dedication of its volunteers.

Diversity is a constant richness because each volunteer brings to the organization something unique and precious, through experience, personality and life course.

Isabelle, Camille and Michel, on behalf of the staff, participants and volunteer members of Comquat, I would like to begin by thanking you from the bottom of my heart for all the work you have done.

Unfortunately, it is impossible for me in a few words to adequately reflect all the availability, support and contribution you have given to Comquat during your participation on the Board of Directors.

The last few months have not been easy: relocation of Comquat’s premises, change of management, pandemic and its strict health rules, integration of new employees and new volunteers. During this difficult time, your work ethic and involvement have been admirable. Your valuable advice and expertise have greatly contributed to the progress of our organization.

Your departure from the Board of Directors saddens us because we were a great team, but we respect your choice. Perhaps it’s just a goodbye!

Isabelle, Camille and Michel thank you again for your wonderful contribution to Comquat.

Florence LE GARREC-SALLENAVE

October 27, 2021

Special Note: We would like to thank our partner at the Monteregie West Community Network (MWCN) for their contribution in translation of English Communications.

NEW COMQUAT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

By Sylvie Pelletier, November 16, 2021

On October 27, at its 2021 Annual General Meeting, COMQUAT welcomed three (3) new members to its Board of Directors: Mr. Clément Bergeron, Mrs. Natalya Kerosinskaya and Mrs. Milena Trifonova.

Comquat is proud to present the appointments of its 2021-2022 Board of Directors.

In her second year of mandate on the Board of COMQUAT, Florence Le Garrec-Sallenave will assume the position of President, replacing Isabelle Leduc. With her expertise in human resources, employment consulting and business organization, Florence is certainly well equipped to chair our Board.

Mr. Clément Bergeron will assume the position of Vice-President. He joins COMQUAT with a range of expertise complementary to COMQUAT’s mission. From the management of development and operations to community action and social development, including the direction of leisure at the municipal and regional level, it goes without saying that Clément will be a valuable asset to the influence of COMQUAT.

Mrs. Jocelyne Bouillon gives us the privilege of renewing a second term with COMQUAT as Secretary of the Board. Her experience as a project manager and executive assistant in the field of employability as well as her incredible dedication and involvement in the cause of COMQUAT make Jocelyne a member of the Board of Directors at the “platinum” level.

Ms. Natalya Kesorinskaya will assume the position of Interim Treasurer replacing Mr. Michel Normand who had to end his mandate last June. In addition to her nine (9) years of experience in accounting, Natalya has a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in accounting, and is a candidate for the practice of the CPA profession. Her experience will certainly be a great asset to our organization.

Ms. Milena Trifonova is also a candidate for the practice of CPA with 6 years of experience in accounting and will hold the position of administrator within the Board of COMQUAT. We will be able to count on the professionalism of her experience in financial management, budget and analysis in public services.

WHAT A BOARD OF administration! A wonderful combination of experience, knowledge and motivation.
COMQUAT welcomes its new members and looks forward to an excellent year of collaboration with all members of the Board in managing the continuous development of its mission.

Special Note: We would like to thank our partner at the Monteregie West Community Network (MWCN) for their contribution in translation of English Communications.

Testimony of my Experience at COMQUAT

It all began in the last week of October 2020. At that time, I was laid off by my employer and I suddenly saw a great opportunity to pursue my project to become a Senior Engineer of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. In order to achieve this goal, I had to pass the Office québécois de la langue française exam in oral and written comprehension and expression in French, which I had failed twice before.
In light of the above, it was necessary to improve my level of French and my enthusiastic and extraordinary daughter helped me. She started looking for a learning institution and luckily, she found the French training centre, COMQUAT.

Since this organization is a public place, it allows all its members to feel welcome and above all respected in their French language learning. I started at COMQUAT in the first week of November and since then I have experienced wonderful moments with other learners, with the Comquat team, but especially with the trainer, Ms. Nathalie Pomerleau, a passionate, patient and wonderful person who really enjoys teaching the French language. Personally, I was committed to work hard in order to achieve my goal. Finally, I took the exam on January 26 and yesterday I received a letter and certification saying that I had passed the Office québécois de la langue française exam.
To conclude, I want to thank the entire COMQUAT team for this great accomplishment. For those who would like to learn or improve their French language, I highly recommend that you visit this place where you will find competent and committed people to help you for your future.

CONGRATULATIONS Omar!

You have worked hard; you have been diligent and persevering; your efforts have paid off. It’s fantastic!
This great success and this diploma obtained is well deserved!
The entire COMQUAT team congratulates you and wishes you every success and the best of luck in achieving your professional goals.

BRAVO again!
And thank you for your wonderful testimony to COMQUAT. It warms our hearts.

COMQUAT participated with its learners in this reading challenge that was taking place at the time across Canada. The project disappeared in 2012, however COMQUAT chose to continue this encouragement to reading. Reading Challenge has therefore become a tradition with our member participants two months a year, in November and in February.

New Faces on the Board of Directors of Comquat
At the general meeting in November 26, two new administrators were elected to Board of Comquat. They are Florence Le Garrec-Sallenave and Michel Normand, who replace Raymonde Trudeau and Michel Robichaud, two very valuable directors. Florence and Michel’s careers leave no doubt as to their ability to take over brilliantly.

A high-level manager, Florence Le Garrec has mainly worked in human resources: business-consulting services, work reorganization, coaching, training… It is of note that she is well aware of the difficulties that immigrants encounter in their job search and their socio-professional integration. She was a member of several Boards, particularly in community-based organizations. Now retired, Florence’s desire for involvement is more present than ever and she has found in Comquat an environment and values that correspond to her own.

Although still fully active in the work world, Michel Normand wants to bring the fruit of his experience and skills to Comquat. An operational manager for over 20 years, he is recognized for his ability to overcome complex challenges and implement innovative solutions, especially during times of change. This is indeed what Comquat has been going through since the start of the pandemic. Michel will also bring to our organization his experience of several years in the community environment.

It is with enthusiasm that Comquat welcomes Florence and Michel to the team. The contribution of Board members is priceless as It gives “solidarity” all its meaning in the framework of their volunteer work.

A NEW DIRECTOR AT THE HEAD OF COMQUAT!

COMQUAT is a non-profit community organization that provides literacy and French language improvement services in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

Since the end of August, a new director has taken over from Ms. Julie Legault, who led the organization with skill and charisma for more than two years.

The newcomer, Sylvie Pelletier, is a high-level bilingual manager. She has over twenty years of experience in administrative management. She has held important leadership, coordination and support positions in large, medium and small businesses. The experience she has acquired in very diverse fields represents an asset for Comquat. Wherever she worked, Ms. Pelletier’s superiors and colleagues had nothing but praise for her: enthusiasm, determination, rigor, sense of organization and pedagogical skills… No doubt she will be able to establish strong ties with her new partners and associates.

At the beginning of this mandate, the Board of Directors would like to express its confidence in Ms. Pelletier and ensure her of its full cooperation.
